Sorry but i do not agree with the idea they were just a transactional pair. Pinky loved him and Suiying loved him back but not the way they needed to be in love. These issues were slower and longer in the novel, they all took time and were worst. When Suiying was at his lowest the pinky was his temple to survive his crisis, Suiying loved pinky in the novel but they were never meant to be because even if Suiying said that what he needed was a calm-kind wife type partner, he prefered a storm kind relationship to feel alive aka LiYu.
Ill be honest, pinky deserve better. Jian suiying is.. hmm well. He wasn’t the best guy as well. The relationship between mc and pinky was also a forced one. Transactional.
