Summary
To love someone painfully is to wish you could lock them away with a golden chain. The very first time Duan Yelin saw Xu Hang, he wanted to imprison him, to hide him in a golden chamber — and in fact, he did just that. Xu Hang was unwilling, but he wanted to live; he still had many things left undone, so in the end he entered Xiao Tong Pass.
Much later, Duan Yelin finally understood: what he had locked away was not a cold, proud golden sparrow, but a sharp, icy golden hairpin.
