Summary

Yes, ms. Archess’s comment is exactly what I think about this author and her works. This type of drama cliche used so be very famous and well-accepted by many readers in China and other Asian countries at the time the novels were released, since lots of young girls there like to witness the scene that how those bastards semes realized their terrible faults after being finally rejected by ukes and must head over heels chased after the ukes at take them back at all costs, bc in the end they (ukes) were the ones that they (semes) loves the most, but they just took it for granted . Although the novels were drawing a very toxic definition of love, just like you said, I hope the readers can tell the fiction and reality apart

Well… Having read 5 novels now out of 10 by Shui Qiancheng I can say one thing: all these novels are crap! Lol
Yes I know, we all like a little dose of toxicity ( as long as it stays fiction) but this author must have some psychological problems lol…Really.
From what I could understand all these novels grouped in the 188 Boys group series follow the same pattern:
– Semes are all 188cm tall. They are extremely handsome, rich, admired.
– They are all bastards. Obsessive, possessive, violent, psychologically and physically abusive, cheater, liar, arrogant…and so on
– Ukes are madly in love with their bastards. To the point of dedicating their first time to them…if they are not raped lol. They live enormous troubles and sufferings because of the semes, they meet other perfect men but they stay faithful and devoted to their torturers.
Then comes the moment when they make us believe that they have become conscious…. to finally fall in love with their “repentant” semes again.
In short… Shui Qiancheng is a toxic author who distorts the meaning of love itself and I hope that the young girls or women who read it have a good emotional and mental balance. This is just fiction.

You know what? I was annoyed in the begining because of the characters but realizing that this is a shared univers story and that Gu Qing Pei is the same one from Beloved Enemy after seeing Yuan Yang aswell now I know what kind of ride I am in for XD although I feel like even Yuan Yang is a tiny tiny bit better (except the begining, I choose to forget that) than Juhan, at least he does’t sleep with other people…
