A lot of readers praised this story being worth the read but I guess it only holds 100% true for novel readers. As someone that didn’t read the novel, it felt rushed and forced thus, it was disappointing, the ending I mean, beginning up to 20 or so chapters after the divorce was fun. After that, it just feels rushed and very forced 😭 I saw some comments that a lot of facts and events from the novel was completely changed and removed which might have explained some of my irks from the story.

Because it being rushed, I just don’t feel it that Gu Yansheng suffered enough to be forgiven from 3 years of abuse that he did to Niannian. He “fixed” the piano that he destroyed himself and then he was suddenly redeemed. He started acting like an innocent teenager that just discovered falling in love but the person he fell in love with is out of reach that’s why he feels brokenhearted. Like, boohoo, that isn’t really enough for me, Niannian had to take antidepressant because of him and all he got was broken bones from being a hero. Niannian also got broken bones because of him and from him. I also think him “realizing” he’s “been in love” with Niannian all this time was bs. He never show a single care inside their marraige, he started falling in love? maybe, but has been in love for so long? BS! Also for Shen Luoan, I feel a little bad for him, yeah, he was a bitch and a liar, he never changed, but the thing I feel bad for him was Yansheng just throwing him after learning of his lies like they were never been “boyfriends” for years. Yansheng just basically abused him the way he abused Niannian, I guess to compensate, when it wasn’t Shen Luoan that did the abuses, it was him. Yansheng imprisoned and tortured Shen Luoan like its just his personality 🫠 so little redemption, too many reflections. It might be because a lot of context was removed from novel thus this rant of mine is only for Manhua version Gu Yansheng.
