The reason he is denying everything is because of his father’s treason. He is the only person remaining of the Shen family who were a bunch of cowards and led to thousands of deaths. Since his entire family died, the nation put all the blame on Shen Zechuan(I know, illogical, but in Ancient China blood relations mean a lot), meaning all the treason that his family committed is now on his shoulders. To avoid execution, he denies all allegations, but as we see in this chapter, this no longer works.
