Sui Ying’s fault is that he ignored the age gap and liked Li Yu and by being a little naughty, won his unconditional love. The age difference is not a big deal because it has been a practice since the times of kings where old kings used to marry young girls. And anyway, at least Sui Ying didn’t do any harm to Li Yu and as for his half brother, obviously if we were in his place, we would have treated our half brother and mother worse than the one who caused our mother’s death. So Li Yu’s fault is that by being in a relationship with Sui Ing, he sympathized with his half brother and betrayed him. So Li Yu’s mistake is that he sympathized with his stepbrother and betrayed Sui Ying by being in a relationship with him. If he had cheated before getting into a relationship, he would have at least been forgivable. And moreover, when Sui Ying’s stepbrother asked him if he loved her, Li Yu even admitted that he loved her, and this made me hate Li Yu.
Aww, Li Yu is so adorable, determined to take micro-steps forward, even if it’s just by cooking the perfect meal. He’s kinda naive, suitable for his age.
It’s only human to take sides, especially when it comes to the main character. But honestly, neither of the leads was written to be wholly likable or morally good (though I love them both anyway, especially Suiying ^3^).
To his credit, Suiying did admit it was his own mistakes first many times, that He never should have come onto the younger boy. Now, he’s facing the consequences of a stubborn, hot-headed young man who refuses to back down. So he can’t wholly deny what his grandpa was saying. He understood all that but there’s a mental block…. I think soon, in a couple of chapters, Suiying will give an awesome breakup speech to Li Yu.
@Aimz_01 i totally agree with you. I don’t like both suiying and liyu. They are both terrible in their own way. People are too quick to only side with suiying when he also did something terrible. He was after someone much much younger than him and Haven’t even finish his education(liyu was 18-19 when this manhua starts and suiying was 26). He also literally touched liyu inappropriately when they first met. I know people seems to always blame liyu for 🍇 and for a good reason ofc . Yes that was wrong, irredeemable as well. But suiying was also a fucking prick. Let’s not forget that he tried to 🍇 liyu first. I know he failed and got manhandled by liyu. Im not saying what liyu did is not excuse-able at all, he’s a fucking asshole for 🍇 suiying after the betrayal. I won’t forgive him for that. And yes betrayal.. all of that was planned by the younger brother. And he only did that because he thought suiying was abusing him when they were little which is why he helped him. And it all happened before he truly fall in love with suiying. He knows what he did was wrong, thats why he tried so hard to repent. my opinion on this two is just mostly neutral. Kinda leaning to “these two are fucking asshole” as well.. sigh i miss the pink hair bb
I know Li Yu is not a character that is likable to many, but they seem to forget, he was ‘written’ that way. (Now, this is my ‘opinion’, so please don’t come for me because I will sit here and laugh at you being offended by my ‘opinion’. However, if you respectfully disagree with me, I would love to hear your opinion!) I feel like some people missed the entire point of stories like this…. this story is a ‘redemption’ story. The author creates a character that does something ‘unforgivable’, and then has to walk through fire n’ brimstone, shed blood/ sweat/ tears/ and dignity to be given the ‘right’ to ‘repent’. The idea, is that people can change and become better people after coming to terms with the ugliest parts of themselves.
There are ‘good people’, that do ‘bad’ things, and there are ‘bad people’, ‘that do ‘good’ things, hence ‘Yin and Yang’ exist. It’s so easy to support an evil character becoming ‘good’…. But let a good guy do something ‘bad’ and try to make amends…. the people will judge him/her for the rest of their life because of it…. never mind that that character spent a lifetime accruing ‘good’ deeds. I wonder if these same people who sit here judging Li Yu, wouldn’t want forgiveness if ‘they’, in rage and resentment, do something they are not proud of and regret wholeheartedly.
And let’s not pretend that Sui Ying is innocent in all this. ‘He’ was the one that pursued someone who was practically a child with their age gap. But he wanted what he wanted, and that was ‘okay’ because he was a ‘handsome main character’… Had he been a love rival/ creepy looking/ talking to Li Yu online…. we would have called him a predator and accused him of grooming soooo fast…. lol
Anywho, I’m sorry for the long rant! I just… don’t understand the people who dislike one of the main characters in a redemption story and stick around for their favorite to fall in love and be whisked away by someone else when they know that’s not what the author is going to do. Why waste your precious time reading something that triggers you when there are thousands of other stories that you would ‘genuinely’ enjoy? O_o
I feel bad for Sui Ying. Grandfather think it’s his fault for the break up and he is abandoning Li you after using him. Where the truth is the other way around. It’s Sui Ying who got hurt raped betrayed and abandoned. All he left is a little bit pride if he tells the truth that’s also will be lost. So he has no choice but to let grandfather misunderstand
Li Yu raped, betrayed and humiliated you, Syuling just tell grandpa the truth. That is your pride then you can’t even the closest people how you feel.
I read the novel and still hate that sob Li Yu.
I know suiying was upset that he got betrayed and scammed but Liyu was mostly manipulated to betray suiying. That younger brother was the most twisted bastard ive seen in the story. I don’t really like liyu but he’s definitely trying alright. Sure all of the 🍇 he’s done cant really be erased but to be fair, suiying also tried to 🍇 him. Both of them are honestly fucked up. And asshole btw. The pink hair honestly deserve better alr. Hes my fav character in the story. I wish he got to meet someone better that will definitely love him and have marriage in mind. Suiying is just… Not build for that…
My fav part of this novel was the part that suiying actually got his turn on liyu.. switch couple is so cool
