Oh it’s so refreshing to find something historical that’s at least trying to have a LITTLE bit of fun, even if what seems to be the romantic lead makes me want to grab a straw and hock spit balls at him! (That said, at least HE’S also having a little fun being bad!)
Not sure how invested I am yet?? Kind of waiting to see if the prince keeps getting dragged around the story like a sack of potatoes or actually starts being an active participant in it.
No shade, it’s just the protagonists in these stories are pretty universally passive and I think the thing it would take to hold my interest is someone whose actions move the story forward because it would stand out – I started in this genre with MXTX, and I guess I kind of expected it to be easier to find like…a more wuxia situation???
(Also…you know…maybe remove the rag from the poor kid’s mouth and unwrap him, that looks SO uncomfortable)
