It’s kinda curious for me how one act of kindness (makes sense after the mental ward) saved Suyue enough for him to save Yichen later, and I mean emotionally. Suyue was also fucked in such an specific way which was exactly what Yichen needed ; someone who would be on his side no matter what. He let him out the choker on him and it was the assurement Yichen needed. Now that he doesn’t need it, we focus on Suyue.
