Ning Yu suffered for years but does Song Bolao. And he love Ning Yu for real. He thought he was betrayed only to realize that he was wrong all these years. It might be a late pain but it won’t hurt less than what Ning Yu felt. Because he love Ning Yu. His pain is also Song Bolao’s pain. And the regrets adds more weight on his suffering. Seriously, I love Song Bolao and I’m happy he now have all these pain poured at him. He deserve this redeption arc… He deserves to feel all these pain to redeem himself.
Actually song bolao isn’t really a bad person, even in the book. I think he’s slowly developed feelings for ningyu since highschool then that happened because of zhuli. They just failed to communicate well and ningyu failed to be honest about their dead child. This chapter is my favorite in the book because I find it really sweet. Song bolao really looked for him and read all his diaries. He took care of him when he got sick.
