This novel really disturbed me…I admit I was stirred for several weeks.
All 3 couples (if not 4 with the 2nd ML Han Chen) are extremely toxic AF. Obsession and wanting to possess are the themes of this long novel.
Some Spoils:
Cen Li suffered so much, forced to become pregnant after multiple assaults from Ning Xiuyuan and give birth to a child he did not want, his life and studies ruined. He tried to commit suicide twice, lost his memory, found it again, became pregnant a second time, was almost murdered by the whore Jiang Yan… All this because Ning Xiuyuan fell obsessively in love with him.
The redemption that the author grants to Ning Xiuyuan is beautiful but I find that the physical and psychological abuse on Cen Li went too far to deserve a happy ending together…😔
The 2nd couple Dr. Bai Chengyu ( the doctor who treats Cen Li) and Qiao An was a pretty similar horror with the 1st couple…I was already down but this was too much.
Bai Chengyu was an orphaned and poor but hardworking student. He was bullied by other students and befriended Qiao An, a rich junior who saved him. The beginning of the horror. Qiao An was nice on the surface. He fell sickly and obsessively in love with Bai Chengyu to the point of… oh gosh 🥺
Qiao An had already raped during their student years Bai Chengyu, he had sequestered him but BC had managed to escape to the city where he now resides, finish his studies and become a doctor. 8 years later, Qiao An found him again and this time it was worse: sequestration, rape, hard drugs, humiliation
BC had become a wreck…he was the wonderful doctor that everyone loved…
The 3rd couple Xia Chuan (Ning Xiuyuan’s best friend) and his adoptive uncle Xia Chuyan… Ahhh gosh….
Xia Chuan was secretly in love with this uncle who adopted him after his father died. He would drug him every night and rape him…😖
