I feel that the ml has lived either multiple timelines or like another person mentioned was framed. I say multiple timelines since the mc said he lived hundred years but mostly due to him (the ml) having his own system or system like thing. It makes me feel as if he has gone through lives where he and the mc got along and others where it ended tragically. Also it fits the idea that the mc only kept his memories if his last life while the ml has kept all the timelines he has gone through or at least pieces depending on how many he has done which is why he seems different to an extent.
However if it’s about the framed plot I wouldn’t be surprised since it seems apparent that the other people of the sect not only want what the ml has but are very envious of the relationship he has given to only the mc. Due to them being envious the other people of the sect kill the mc and blame the ml just to make a wedge but also get the mcs spot. The only problem is that the mc kept his memories of his most current life. Also the mc was able to take the mls sword just because he severed emotional ties so all it would take is the mcs follower to do the same.

From what I understand. The Master really love him so much. I think when he found out that his discipline died, he tried to do anything for him to meet his discipline again. I also think in 1 chapter the other discipline like him so much that they want the discipline to died. And they make a story that the master is the one who wants him to die so that the discipline didn’t have any feelings for the master again. That’s how the misunderstanding make.
