No one is controlling him, when he was sent off for ten years. He had more freedom being away. Plus he’s the crown prince, so of course he would have to follow some rules and traditions
In all fairness, arranging a marriage without the consent of both parties is harly a commendable act. So, one can pardon the prince for his rebellion and behaviour.
Instead of the forced marriage, the parents should have simply allowed both parties to court naturally and wait for the outcome.
