There’s several different titles for concubines, each title comes with more and more authority. If a concubine isn’t upbove a certain title then their children can’t call them mother/mom/etc, they have to call those upbove the certain title mother. His mom isn’t upbove that title (yet) so he can’t actually call her mom in except when it’s just them 2 together. And if I’m not mistaken she’s also not allowed in the room with the other wives to greet him either because her title isn’t high enough (yet)
