Reading some of the comments here reminded me that common sense isn’t very common. Neither Hill nor Xingmu are at fault. Calling Hill selfish for wanting seek freedom is… a textbook example of every woman being looked down upon, just because they wished to live their dreams, didn’t want to be tied down and for once! be able to live their Life. Hill ISN’T Happy! Guys! And he will never be able tk be happy in the palace and in a nation where they despose his identity. People’s emotions aren’t up to them! If it were upto us, suicides wouldn’t happen now right? Emotional outburst wouldn’t happen right? People could just ket go of heir grieving for beloved ones who have already passed away right??
It is NOT that Hill doesn’t consider his child his own becazse of the war and all. As the omega prince of the nation, there really wasn’t much expectations and respect placed on him by his nation for him to worry being seen as the traitor, that is not even is main worries.
He just wants to be free, and not anyone’s burden! All his life he has wanted to soar.. It is not pride nor identity, he just wants.. to feel he is alive…
Also.. just to be clear, it is VERY POSSIBLE to be on a state of dispute or war, even when not wanting one. There will always be a bully, there will always be someone who covets from you, always someone who can’t accept peace, always someone who would try to harm you whether or not you harmed them…! The King of Iselanya was a Mad man, he was the one who started this War, don’t blame the Tadels to fight bagk to protect themselves. There is domething called fighting for self defense.
And sorry but Hill’s brother wasn’t innocent. They know better how they treated the Tadels.. Xingmu is a complete Green flag!
As much as I want them together, I can’t blame Hill to be a little selfish for himself. Also he only has his older brother who actually loved and care for him a lot! So it would actually be awlfish of him if he were to not even try to beg for his life now right??

My thoughts: Hill is so focused on the war that his family and people lost and on his brother, that he simply doesn’t think on son as his own. Like, he certainly feel responsible for his brother. And he want to be treated like a prisioner of the war, not as an omega that was captured on that process. In the beginning of the manhua, the author showed us how TERRIBLE was being an omega at war context. So, when the ML side won the war, Hill automatically concluded that his own son wasn’t his, but Xu’s.
Personally, in my opinion, if both parents don’t agree on giving a child (child that’s already born. I’m NOT talking about 22weeks or less fetus, for example) for adoption, this child is their responsibility. Saving the cases when the child is in the middle of a toxic relationship, like: one is using the child as a way to lock another one to this abusive relation. I thought about that when ML gave the child for Hill to hold the baby. But then I realized really fast that 1: ML is really trying to see Hill happy and respect his decision to leave and 2: even if he doesn’t want, he’s planning to remove Hill’s mark because he knows his love see that as a prision.
Conclusion: for me, Hill is being completely irresponsible about his own child (that sure IS his responsibility too). He only feel responsible for his brother because, for him, his brother is his only family, they lost the war as a family. Xu and the child are not like that: they’re the winners of the war. And Hill don’t want to be seen as a traitor of his own people or as an “conquisted omega”. He’s a prince, after all. But all that situation is completely out of Hill’s control. His body became weaker, his mind is exhausted from the war. He don’t want to loose the only piece of family that he know as solid.
The ML looks like he don’t want to see Hill leave. Sometimes I think that, in the future, he’ll be able to try to do some kind of emotional blackmail. But I’m not 100% sure, because he looks determined not to break his promise.
I don’t like Hill’s or Xu’s attitudes (a little less than Hill’s, I might say), but I feel safe to say that the main culprits of that situation are both of the previous kings. They started that war (when one side doesn’t want to, two sides don’t fight), they made their own people pay the higher price, causing hunger, chaos and genocide. That story is about the nobels, but I can’t stop thinking: if the ML, Hill and his brothters were affected like that, imagine what the common people suffered? Not only physically and financially speaking, but mentally too.
In the end, this is a war history.
Ill’s family was a disaster for Xi mu’s family and nation, but still he’s acting so selfish. He doesn’t care of anything apart his own happyness. His child, his mate, nothing at all, just him and his brother.
Honestly I’m so fed up with how they nonchalantly treat his brother. Meanwhile his brother alongside with their father massacred a whole nation. Literally wiped out ml’s family. Ml is so goddamn generous by not executing him. They have no right to act cocky.
