@Axel prolly did it to protect the people he cherished ( so cuteeee ), anyways we don’t REALLY know what he was like , just glimpses and MC’s pov, I think the main reason mc ran away was prolly cuz he was too young to handle everything , he clearly doesn’t dislike the emperor or he would’ve never helped him… Maybe he got scared by the change in emperor’s personality after taking on the empire, also there was smth about a harem (?) maybe that too
