Ok, so just as a note: This is VERY different from the novel.
I think they are trying to gather a little bit more simpathy from the readers to the ML since in the story his suffering was very subtle.
In the story he is like a walking robot, he refuses to admit Yan Yan died. But you can notice the little things. How he strokes the amulet everytime he remembers Yan Yan and tries to keep his things (he does not throw them away until much later).
You can also notice that the clothes everyone thought were alike the white moonlight were from his deceased mother’s favorite designer and apparently she bought it for every single family member, key word is family here. The only time he loses his head is in this scene in the novel and later when MC reappears. MC and WM are much more alike in the novel, the translated version did not explain why is that yet. The reason ML acted that way towards MC is because he was afraid of loving someone and becoming like his father (losing his mind after the death of his mother and leaving everything behind, including himself). But the readers did not buy it. Everyone shipped MC and Cousin. Because he showed emotion. He cared from the start. And kept MC’s memory very respectfully. He was the ultimate second male lead, honestly. But the way ML was in the novel made him a much more complex character. He acted like a true grief striken husband in denial. He was quietly hallucinating as well. Here you can see from the start the little things. In the story you have to pay A LOT of attention to see it. I only noticed the second time I read it. I think it was made on purpose to make the reader resent male lead. But the readers resented him too much.

Just 1 year later?? Hmm, I don’t know if this is correct TL, but I remember on another site it says it’s been 3 years. Maybe I was just wrong?
