what exactly do you mean by ‘duties’? obviously filial piety is a big thing, especially in asian countries, but honestly respect and love is earned. if the kid doesn’t think the parents are doing a well enough job, expecting them to carry out their ‘duties’ as a child is really ridiculous. besides ML never mistreated his mother, he just treats her as any other stranger, especially with his low EQ which his mother obviously never saw fit to help him with
