I don’t normally actually like to say someone working on a thing did it dirty, because whether I jive with a certain plot or character or not has nothing to do with like, what I consider the ACTUAL artistic merits of a thing. But like…DAMN, whoever did the script for this adaptation really REALLY did it dirty, because I have no reason to assume the novel had the same issue. All of this shit popping up out of nowhere here though is really starting to get out of hand.
Maybe there’s some cultural context I’m missing, of course. The reason I’m guessing there isn’t is that Qian knows where he is, and therefore knows what Junli is, and is surprised to see him do this. If there is though, feel free to well actually me into the stratosphere obviously
