That Desharow died so Agaras waited 50 years for him to be reborn again. (Mermaids are either immortal or live extremely long).
Desharow died from blood loss early. He was in the past, around WW2. Now it’s 50 years later, Agaras waited for him to be reborn again. But his grandfather still knew everything and so changed how Desharow was raised. Agaras also created a WW3 against humans in the meantime and now Desharow (actually younger now, late teens) is in the army fighting against them. Rhine earlier was also a different Rhine)
