This is not what happened in the novel….Jun qiyu totally left with that seductress(whatever his name is) and came back late in night which is opposite of what is shown here that he waited outside
I *THINK* what @Loveanime is saying is that Qiyu did it and nobody stopped him, making his family, including “male wife”, culpable by extension because they’re their best friends and they would have had to have known, but he (Qiyu) was never punished.
@jozial I read the novel and it disgusted me he imprisoned Liqing’s parents who were almost tortured and Nobody, I say well, Nobody has ever blamed him for anything…. the author is really trash
@Loveanime That’s what I’m thinking lmao. This is basically just a retelling of the first story with a couple details changed, but it’s worse because the son has two parents who know better and should be doing something about it. Where tf is the malewife dad from the first story? He conveniently disappeared while his friend’s son gets abused
“Was I too harsh on him” idk man, which time when you beat the shit out of him for no particular reason are we talking about here.
I’d mention the rape too but we already know his father thinks it’s fine when you’re married. Said it like three chapters before the end of the previous comic. No wonder the kid thinks the same.
Anyway, shout out to the fit Hunuer is wearing. I love it.
Also…this is going to be like…random, but I keep thinking of directions *I* would take this in if I were writing it, so I’m going to subject anyone who happens to bother reading this to another now 😂 (is it better? no idea, probably not, it’s just something I would find fun):
So the fun thing about tangled up romances involving queer characters is that you can ACTUALLY do a proper love triangle. So I propose the following (it obviously would require a fairly significant overhaul of characters personalities to work): so Qiyu brings back Hunuer, and I don’t know how common it would have been in this era of China to take children of rival kings as sort of permanent houseguests, but let’s say that’s what’s going on so that things are slightly more chill there. Qiyu, unlike here, is actually apparently smitten with Hunuer, however the feeling is not mutual and – wait for it – Hunuer meets LiQing and is smitten with HIM. Whomst is in love with Qiyu. I think in this version I’d ultimately have the spares get together too. I just like how they look aesthetically.
Idk I just think like the concept of a love triangle where one character DOESN’T end up in a corner with two other characters in a punch up over them is so fun and I almost never see it done 😂

the fact that qiyu treats liqing very badly and no one says anything to him, not even his parents who have been there…. it’s annoying
